McLaren, like any other front running formula one team, bring little aero modifications to each grand prix, in hope that they'll bring thousondths of a tenth of a second difference a lap, though recently, McLaren were faster than Ferrari, though the reason isn't all down to aero.
For the British Grand Prix, McLaren's fuel supplier, Mobil 1, gave McLaren some new specification oil and fuel to try out on the MP4-23.
“Silverstone also saw the introduction of new fuel and lubricants from our partners at Mobil 1 and that has also made an incremental but useful improvement to engine performance.
In Hockenheim this week, we evaluated a number of further aerodynamic improvements, some of which were plain to see, and it’s rewarding to see just how far we’ve already pushed development of the 23. While we have already started looking in greater detail at our 2009 package, there are currently no plans to ease up on seasonal development of this year’s car.”
This weekends Grand Prix should be a good race for McLaren, the teams gone well here in the past, in 2004, the McLaren was the fastest team on track. Heres hoping that they can repeat that four years later, without crashing out with a broken rear wing, like last time.
