Well what a race it was on Sunday. Just amazing!

But before I start, I just want you to know about an unpublished story I wrote a few weeks ago after the Japanese GP. The story name was: "Championship over!".   At that time Alonso had just crashed out at Fuji and Hamilton had a 12 point lead over Alonso and a 17 point lead over Räikkönen.
I was really disappointed that evening because I was convinced the championship was over. Hamilton could cruise in the last two races and still be champion. Even after China,  when Hamilton parked his car by the pitlane entrance, I still was sure he would win the trophy. But of course I was glad to see that the fight would be decided at Interlagos and we had 3 guys who theoretically could win.

During qualifying, I had hoped for Kimi to be on pole ahead of his teammate and then the two BMW Saubers mixing it with the McLarens just to spice things up. But as you all know, it was Massa leading Hamilton, Räikkönen and Alonso. So after Saturday I was even more convinced that Lewis would take the crown quite easily. All he had to do was to be ahead of Alonso or directly behind him, and he only had to score 4 points before Kimi would be out of the picture.
This turned out to be easier said than done. Massa did a great job at the start by blocking Lewis and letting Kimi move up to second place. A few moments later, even Alonso had muscled his way around Lewis with a superb move. Still, all Lewis had to do was to follow the trio home in fourth place and the title win would be his.

However, this was when his nerves took over!! Instead of staying calm, Lewis made a stupid move on Alonso and he slid off the track and down to 8th place.
Now I was beginning to think that this could turn out to be one hell of a race! I was still pretty sure that Lewis would get the title though, as Trulli, Rosberg, Webber and the BMW Sauber duo would be no match for him in the long run.
Hamilton passed Trulli quite easy and a few laps later he was up to 6th by passing Heidfeld.

Then, all of a sudden, Lewis's car was going really slowly and almost the whole grid passed him.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My first thought was poor Lewis, as this was a very cruel way to lose the title. He had had an amazing rookie season and was destined to win the championship. But it looked like bad luck and inexperience had finally caught up with him. Later on though, when Kimi crossed the line as champion, I was really happy. Because of all that had been going on with the McLaren spy-saga, I thought that justice had been done.

I'm no Ferrari fan and never will be, but they deserve to have both championship titles this year.

For most of the year we have been the 3rd force, with a big gap to the top two teams, and a relative big gap to the rest behind us, we were in a no man's land. Next year I hope Heidfeld and Kubica will be given a competitive car to challenge for wins. I can't wait to see the F1.08 and I can't wait for the 2008 season to begin.
