The Hockenheim test continued on Wednesday and Adrian Sutil continued to fly on home soil, The German put in an impressive time which was quick enough for fifth fastest despite a technical problem which kept him off track for a while. Sutil's time was less than 1.1s slower than the fastest lap of the day by Lewis Hamilton.

Wednesday's Team quotes:
Dominic Harlow, chief race and test engineer

'This morning our programme included work on suspension and set-up for the race. We had a technical problem mid morning that halted our running for some time, but the team did a good job to get the car ready just before the lunchtime break so we could participate in the practice starts at the end of the morning. We continued our aero development programme in the afternoon, trying the wheel spinners we used for the first time in the Silverstone test two weeks ago, and evaluated the tyre compounds available for the race. The feedback was generally positive and, despite the setback in the morning and the gusty winds that still caused some problems, we were able to complete the scheduled programme.'

'It was a good day, and we were able to test several items. In the morning we had an issue with the engine and lost some time, and again the windy conditions made things difficult, but in the afternoon the balance came back. It was getting better and better and we could do some good lap times, so I was quite happy. At the end of the day we also tried a different evolution of suspension set-up, so we're getting some good experience with the new parts. We can still improve a lot, there is more potential in the car, so overall it looks quite positive for the race weekend.'

A problem filled day for Giancarlo Fisichella as he took over testing duties on Thursday left him languishing at the bottom of the timesheets.

In the morning he suffered a fuel system failure, followed up later by a crash in the afternoon. His fastest lap of the day, though, was within 1.2s of the leading pace.

Thursday's Team quotes:
Dominic Harlow, chief race and test engineer
'We had much better weather today, which was more representative of the conditions we are likely to see in the race next week. The programme focussed on testing some aero development items, brakes and tyre comparisons and, despite the downtime, we were able to complete the test objectives. The two issues we had did not cause us too many problems; we had a fuel system failure in the morning and then the repairs following Giancarlo's accident took a couple of hours, but our programme was completed as part of preparations for the race here.'

Giancarlo Fisichella
'It was a bit frustrating we could not do more running. In the morning we had the technical problem and had to stop for some time, then in the afternoon I had an accident. The rear of the car went away and I just lost control through the stadium complex. The car went across the road and there's not much run off area there so I went into the wall. I'm fine, but the car was quite badly damaged. The guys did a good job to get it out again for the last 30 minutes. Overall we are making some small improvements and moving forward. We will have to see how they work next weekend.'
