The 2002 season saw Arrows create a beautiful f1 car named the A23, but tragically it was set for doom as there was not enough finance to fully realise the A23's potential. So after some races the A23 disappeared off f1.
But it was not the end of the tale as the car was put up on auction, through the money that Paul Stoddard had acquired from Ecclestone, he bought the cars. the chassis were run through tests alongside Stoddard's very own Minardi model, hoping to incorporate some of the ideas from the A23 chassis and develop them further for his own PS series. The car was put through its paces but not actually used to race and so sat idle for a few years.
Super Aguri enters F1, but due to the tight time scale, producing their own car in time for the season would have been impossible. It was assumed that a revised BAR 006 chassis could be used, but the FIA deemed it illegal meaning Super Aguri were without a chassis with just a few months till the start of the season. Enter the A23, Stoddard was now out of F1 but still held the rights to the car, it was a long shot but with time running out, If Super Aguri could some how modify the four year old chassis to moden specifications, then they might stand a chance at competing in 2006. Super Aguri bought the rights off Stoddard and began tinkering away furiously.
During the Kemble and Barcalona test, the public had their first glimps of a pure white car but with old aero. There was some concern from the outside and critics, on whether the car would be legal on time, with little more then a fortnight before the grand prix there was no sign of the 2006 aero. However, a week later in Silverstone Super Aguri unveal much to the delight of spectators and F1 fans, a car which to most looked good, it was a massive evolution from what was seen a week before. From the ashes of the A23 rises the classically pleasent interim "SA05" car and first ever car of Super Aguri.
