Team Hauler Burns
By Andrew Cutler August 21 2008
Team Penske has suffered a very unusual setback as they were heading out west for this weekend's race in Sonoma, CA: the hauler that was carrying Helio Castroneves' & Ryan Briscoe's cars, along with several other vital peices of equipment, caught fire.

The incident happened along Interstate highway 80 in Wyoming. It has been determined that a wheel bearing on the trailer portion of the semi caught fire as the unit was making it's way through the western part of the state. As that portion of the US is sparsely inhabited & cell phone reception is spotty, the truck crew had to attempt to deal with the fire on their own at first. As they were unable to contain it, they detached the tractor and moved it to saftey, letting the trailer burn.

Team Penske has dispatched two more cars, currently set up for ovals, to Sonoma, where they will have to be reconfigured for the road course event. They have also dispatched a few crew members to Wyoming to look through the contents of the burnt trailer & determine if there is anything worth salvaging from it.
