Improvement for Williams in French Friday practice

Nico Rosberg
By Andrew Hooper June 20 2008
The second Friday practice for the 2008 French Grand Prix would see an improvement for both of the AT&T Williams team drivers. Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima would finish the session in eleventh and fourteenth. This was an improvement over their earlier Friday practice session. The session would see Nico complete the higest number of laps as several drivers would have off-track excursions.

 French GP Friday 2nd Practice

After a tough opening Friday practice for the AT&T Williams team, with Nico and Kazuki only in fourteenth and seventeenth positions, the second Friday would hopefully see an improvement. Under sunny conditions the session would get underway. Nico would be the first of the Williams drivers to take to the track. Kazuki would follow him out shortly after. Again neither of the Ferrari's had taken to the track.

Nico's first lap was a 1m:17.886, which would see him in ninth. Early pace setters were the McLaren's with Hamilton, 1m:16.500, leading Kovalainen. Kazuki's first lap would see him in twelfth, 1m:17.890, with Nico down in eleventh.

As the session progressed both Williams drivers were able to improve their positions over the earlier practice session with Nico and Kazuki finishing in eleventh and fourteenth positions.

The session was far from uneventful with several drivers having off-track excursions including Alonso who left the track at the 180 corner. Hamilton, Trulli and Massa all had trips across the gravel at Estoril.
