Hungarian Grand Prix Preview
By Gareth Johnston July 25 2008
A preview of the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix from the Hungaroring, near the nation's capital of Budapest. Lewis Hamilton won this event last year and with strong performances of late, he and McLaren will likely be more than just a challenge for Ferrari.

The Hungarian Grand Prix (Magyar Nagydíj) is fast approaching and many questions need to be answered. Have Mclaren found the edge needed? Do Ferrari have an answer to what took place in Germany? Obviously only time will tell. In recent years there have been a number of different winners. In the last decade both Ferrari and Mclaren have won on four occasions. Last year saw Fernando Alonso starting from pole, with Lewis Hamilton winning and Kimi Raikkonen bringing home the Ferrari in second, whilst also setting the fastest lap.

Due to the nature of this track, being very narrow and with some very twisty sections many of the races here in the past have been processional. The track is not used very often and as such becomes very dusty and any cars straying from the racing line run the risk of either going wide or off. If everything stays dry and form continues as we have seen recently, then qualifying will be very important. It could prove to be the most important race for Ferrari to aim for pole position, as overtaking opportunities are few and far between. If it rains we could be in for a different race altogether with a very unusual outcome as 2006 proved, with Jenson Button winning in a Honda.

Re: Hungarian Grand Prix Preview
nope it didnt go down

@jonny f.2008

it would be a nice idea.well let this site pay satan for his gp visits and let him start a new thread called-my trip to hungaroring(just for an example).then satan will be able to post the pics that he took,the atmosphere,his memorable moments at the track.well most of the forrums do send their mods i guess.so,in the end its not a bad idea

Cav, i don't think Dale would go for that.

Although if the choice is given i'll take him up on the offer.

Looking forward to tomorrow though.

No, renault as the actual race team. They pay someone a few thousand euro a month I think, and they travel as the official fan. Pretty awesome.

Re: Hungarian Grand Prix Preview
its pretty good that renault pays for 1 fan to visit the GPs.but i dont think this will ever be the case with ferrari.if they ever think so then it will be a long list.well it would be pretty awesome if our forrum sends our own race reporter to races.hmmm it would be a gr8 achievemnet for us.so lets discuss of all off our possibilities.

Re: Hungarian Grand Prix Preview
I think this is the same fan that Renault and Alonso actually chose from a competition they held. Anyone could have applied from what I read...and the lucky person is also paid some sort of stipend in his capacity as 'official fan'.

I can't imagine Ferrari paying for anyone to be the official fan.
